Dr. Kgomotso Tshaka is a mining and sustainability executive, researcher, author, and thought leader with extensive experience in the global natural resources sector. Her work sits at the intersection of critical minerals, mine closure, ESG, governance, social transition, and sustainable development, where she has advised on complex strategies that create enduring value for industry, governments, investors, and host communities.
Throughout her career, Dr. Tshaka has championed sustainability governance and more recently, a shift in how mine closure is understood from a technical end-of-life activity to a strategic governance and investment priority that shapes long-term economic resilience, environmental stewardship, and community prosperity. She is recognised for advancing integrated approaches to responsible capital deployment for legacy planning and long term community regeneration through sustainable livelihoods.
Dr. Tshaka contributes to global conversations on the future of mining, the energy transition, and Africa’s role in supplying the critical minerals needed for a low-carbon economy through her thought leadership articles, and recently published work and conference speaking platforms. Her research explores innovative models for mine closure, legacy investment, governance, and social value creation, with a particular focus on positioning Africa to achieve sustainable and inclusive growth through responsible mineral development.
