Dr. Gebre Tafere holds a Ph.D. in Environment and Natural Resource Management from Addis Ababa University, where his doctoral research examined the resilience of social-ecological systems to climate change in the Koga Watershed of the Blue Nile Basin, Ethiopia. With more than three decades of experience spanning academia, government, and community development, he has made significant contributions to climate adaptation research, watershed management, and sustainable development policy, particularly in Ethiopia’s Amhara Region.
He currently serves as Director of the Center for Environmental Studies at Debre Berhan University, having previously held the position of Dean of the College of Social Sciences and Humanities. Dr. Tafere has contributed to several national and international initiatives, including the Environmental Education Project in Ethiopia and the Sino-Africa Green Finance Alliance, where he served as Lead Local Consultant, focusing on green finance challenges and policy gaps in Ethiopia.
His research has been widely published in peer-reviewed journals, and he serves as a reviewer for leading international journals in agriculture, ecology, and sustainability.
